Thank you, can anyone tell me how many fowel we are allowed in the city (Eugene Or). I had our pekin ducks sexed, and they are both male, and if we can have 12, we can get three hens and keep the drakes, if we can't i will have to re home the drakes.

http://www.eugene-or.gov/?nid=2389 -- this is where you'll get current information with specific code references for Eugene and livestock. Click on the "This document" link towards the bottom of the text and you get the code which has the following with regards to fowl:

Thank you....appears as if I was incorrect with the amount of fowel we are allowed to have, when I read this it states 6 over 6 months and 6 under 6 months. Do you understand this to be a total of twelve to the age of 6 months, if so we are under the 6 months of age (they are 5 months now), we will be over by 4 when we rehome the drakes. Ow, guess I should have checked before we got the last batch if this is the case

First egg!

I give the ducks water in their little tub at night and they usually empty by morning. It's where I found the first egg!

I think sometimes they just aren't sure what's happening when that first egg pops out, that's why so many lay their first in the pool. or tub or mud puddle LOL Congrats on the first egg.

You were right! After I read your post Miss Lydia, I went out to their baby pool, dumped it and found an egg. So I think the first egg was actually in the baby pool. It was very leathery feeling, like reptilian; maybe that's normal for a first egg or maybe it was water-logged? The one I found in their pen this morning felt like a normal "bird" egg.

Sometimes things just happen . lol if you have a nice nesting area for them they will soon find out it's nice and cozy to lay their eggs there. Just takes a while.

I gave up on the nest boxes. Since they free range all over our big back yard and are no longer put up at night, everyday is STILL an egg hunt, lol. I find eggs everywhere!

Aunt Clara just laid her 1st egg!!! woo hoo!
