First Egg

Two days ago we were surprised to find an egg. I wasn't expecting this for sometime (my hens are 16 weeks). Not sure which of the 5 it was. And of course they aren't using the nesting box. My boys swore they saw one today but I didn't find it. They've put themselves on egg duty.

Congratulations on that first egg! May they lay many more for you! Pullets often don't really know what they are doing or what is happening when they first start laying, so it is not that unusual for them to lay eggs in random places. Just be sure your nesting boxes are attractive to them, dark, fake eggs, easy to get into etc, and they should start using them.
