First eggs are small.

Got my first Easter Egger today!!! Small! I first thought it might be a snake egg as it was in the dirt next to the shed!! But it was a blue egg!!!! So, now I’ve opened the nesting boxes and put a couple of fake eggs in there, hoping they will
get the idea!!

I got my first egg yesterday and it is smaller than store bought, they are already on layers feed , any thing I have to add to their diet?
No, it’s just a pullet egg. They’ll increase in size (and weight) over the next few months or so.

If you have a digital kitchen scale with an option to measure in grams, it’s fun to track weights, if you can tell your chickens’ eggs apart. But promise you won’t stress out if weights jump around or get “stuck” for a while! They’re living creatures, and like all of us, they don’t march along in a straight, steady line from a math textbook. Allow them the minor hiccups that we all experience.

Congrats on your first egg! ❤️ And welcome to Backyard Chickens!
