Went to clean out the goose and duck pen today and found a nice surprise.

My Roman Tufted Goose laid an egg. But this being my first ever goose egg I'm not sure if this will be fertile. The mother is not bothering with it so I'm almost assuming it may not be a good egg.

I also don't know if this is a normal shape for the egg. The egg is approximately 3 & 1/2" long & was warm.

I don't have an incubator so I'm not sure what to do with it yet.

The geese and ducks share the same pen at night and I don't see the male being protective of it.

Any ideas?

That is how our geese started. They will not be protective until they have a whole clutch. Their first few they just laid wherever. Then they started making a nest and got it right. I've hatched over 30 this year and got one goose on five right now.
