Sad face here. Beth, I candled all six of Dusty's eggs and they
all appear clear. Either Suede isn't fertile or he isn't getting the job done for some reason. Could be his fertility is just off this winter, especially at his age. Dang!!!!! I will leave them in the bator till Friday, then when I will recandle them, just to be sure. Even two of my own BR's are not fertile, Amanda's. Becca's and Fern's are doing great. Anyway, I'm so sorry to have to give you bad news.
On a lighter note, I also candled the BBS Rocks and Ameraucanas. About half of the BBS Rocks don't show development going into Day Six, but that's okay since I dont need huge numbers of them. The Marans crosses? Who knows! One is super dark, even with my slide projector. The other does seem to have development. The two Ameraucanas seem to have development, though the splotchy shells make it hard to be sure.
The other package containing the 4 breeder type BRs and 8 BBS Ameraucanas was really handled roughly and those are the ones with some blown aircells. One of the eight BBS Amerauanas in that box had a blown cell, but the other seven are great! The lone BR left from that box has a shell that makes it hard to see, but it appears to be developing. I'll have to recandle all the questionable ones.
Shipping eggs is such a gamble! It's really a miracle that you can even mail eggs and some will still hatch after that bumpy ride across the country.
