First Hatch: Blue Orp rooster with Buff and Blue Orp hens: (Pics)

Newbie question:

Are those with that gray/blue color the blue ones? Its a beaufitul color. Will they stay that color or get darker when their feathers come in?

sslady thanks. Yes the grey/blue ones are the blue's and some will stay just about that color blue some will probably be darker and then some may even be a lighter shade of blue. There's no way to tell really until they feather out.

Kris, as for the bantam orps I will not have any this year as I only have the 2 pair and want to build my flock up but hopefully will have some next year.

Some other BYCer has some bantam orps....maybe Kingscalls? I can't remember for sure who it was!

Yes, KingsCalls has black and blue bantam Orps, I believe. Check out my post on the Blue Orp/Buff Brahma cross chicks. Blue/Buff in that case makes the boys have gold and the girls are usually solid black or blue.

That is so not right posting pictures of those little cuties! It is going to make the wait that much longer for me...waiting for your eggs in my bator to hatch. I can't wait!

I plan to candle them Thursday.

I sure hope I get at least one blue orp.

Wow! Those are beautiful chicks! I'm happy to hear you have some bantams. I have a silkie Serama breeder pair I acquired on Ovabid.com from Dixiebirds.com. They are so cute, and the rooster is a real sweetheart. Do you have any Seramas?

No I don't have any Serama's right now but should be getting some eggs before to much longer. Also probably going to get a trio or 2 of grown birds.
