First hatch Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced I set 31 eggs. LOTS PHOTOS/VIDEOS!! Ill keep this thread upd

Missed a lot of the action today but congrats on all the hatches today! I'll check back tomorrow to see whatever happened to the one who'd been halfway out for 12 hours. Hope the little one makes it and that you get some more! Thanks for sharing everything. Makes me feel better knowing what to expect! :)

ariel, I have always waited until it got a little crowded, waited until chicks are DRY, then just slipped my HAND in and scooped them out right into a box with heat lamp...dip their beak in the
water to show them where the water is...food in also, sprinkle a little on floor of box and they just start being chickens, then they just go to sleep, wake up, eat, drink, sleep soooooooooooooo
cute. you can tell the temp/humidity goes up when there are a bunch in there...mine stayed around
65 - 75...chicks were not as crowded so they could dry, sleep, rest until I took them out. I put eggs in egg cartons, no rolling around, all mess stays in egg shells, easy to clean when done...sure hope they hurry up for you...please let us know how many...I should have candled my eggs , I say I will do another batch just to candle....Ha...some excuse....with these chicks I have 54 chicks now already.. and 3 broody hens setting....OMG...I never should have added them all up...I have plenty room for them thank goodness...so darn cute... What I share is what I have experienced - am no expert - but this works for me...it my joy....waiting to hear ... 100% hatch from every one...

Okay hubby helped and we counted 13 little chicks made their way to the brooder. They have not gotten the hang of food or water yet but they're under their eco glow 50 and they come out and go back under so I guess that's good. I'll give them some time to relax in their new place. I out a warm wet paper towel in the incubator and humidity was 62% and there were two chicks with their heads out of the shell, so Ill see if they are out tomorrow. I am using the brooder cap water and fermented feed so a little different than normal. I am sure they will get it eventually!

AWESOME FIRST RUN MY FRIEND! well done! So glad you did ALLLLLLLL your homework before hand! love seeing all those fluffybutts! Congrats! Glad to be of some help ;)

Ok good news, bad news, and other news.

Good news: is I got both chicks out of their shells, They were both stuck and one was stuck so bad it had dried completely to the shell. I just got a warm wet paper towel and moisten the chick and shell and got them both out.
Bad news: one might have wry neck, hard to tell just yet. I hope it wasn't from me waiting to long to free it, or maybe THAT is why it could not get out of its own shell in the first place? The other is still too wet to see I had to get it pretty soaked to get it out of its dried shell.
Other news: MY CHICKS ARE RETARDED!!!! I dip their beaks in water and they SCREAM and run backwards falling over and then RUN under the Ecoglow50 like I just tried to kill them!!!! They have not eaten or drank yet. I put a regular waterer in there as well as regular dry feed thinking maybe the fermented feed and bottle nipple was weird for them, but still nothing...........I have never had day old chicks (just several days and they already knew they basic functions.) Will mine learn before they die? I have been showing them consistently but they just want to stay under the ecoglow.....sigh.............
