First hatch Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced I set 31 eggs. LOTS PHOTOS/VIDEOS!! Ill keep this thread upd

AWESOME FIRST RUN MY FRIEND! well done! So glad you did ALLLLLLLL your homework before hand! love seeing all those fluffybutts! Congrats! Glad to be of some help ;)
Thank you SO MUCH Sally Sunshine! It was your advice that finally made me do it. Other people suggested it, but I felt like you really knew your stuff and I would take your advice over people I didn't know how much experience they really had. :) THANK YOU AGAIN! Can you please read my newest post I just posted here, thank you!

Ok good news, bad news, and other news.

Good news: is I got both chicks out of their shells, They were both stuck and one was stuck so bad it had dried completely to the shell. I just got a warm wet paper towel and moisten the chick and shell and got them both out.
Bad news: one might have wry neck, hard to tell just yet. I hope it wasn't from me waiting to long to free it, or maybe THAT is why it could not get out of its own shell in the first place? The other is still too wet to see I had to get it pretty soaked to get it out of its dried shell.
Other news: MY CHICKS ARE RETARDED!!!! I dip their beaks in water and they SCREAM and run backwards falling over and then RUN under the Ecoglow50 like I just tried to kill them!!!! They have not eaten or drank yet. I put a regular waterer in there as well as regular dry feed thinking maybe the fermented feed and bottle nipple was weird for them, but still nothing...........I have never had day old chicks (just several days and they already knew they basic functions.) Will mine learn before they die? I have been showing them consistently but they just want to stay under the ecoglow.....sigh.............

Oh I'm so happy you were able to get the two chicks out!!! I hope the one doesn't have wry neck! But I think it's "fixable" from what I've gathered... Okay the "other news" totally made me laugh!!! I have not had day old chicks, well, I haven't had ANY chicks so I can only imagine the reactions of seeing (hearing) something like that. Too funny!! What little stinkers! lol Will you post videos of them today??

my last hatch was a little slower then the first to figure things out, you might try just putting some crumbles on the ground see if they will peck it, it was 2 days out of the incabator before they really started eating.

Ok here photos I just took of the two I helped out of their shells. I'm almost 100% sure the one has wry neck. The other is still drying off and is the laying down photo.

Well mine were in the incubator for over 1 day so they don't have that much more time to figure it out.......

Yes I will try to get videos but they just hide under the ecoglow! I am glad you got a laugh out of it. I don't know what to do, those stinkers!

What size EcoGlow did u get?

Another random question - what is that white tube thing in your brooder??
I got 2 Ecoglow 50 I figured more room is always better than less especially when they start to grow. The white thing is a homemade feeder I bought on BYC. I didn't have food in it in this photo. You can order whatever size you want, he recommended 18 inches long for chicks but I think that was too long. I may have him make me another only 8-10 inches long. It is designed so they cannot spill feed all over and I thought maybe they would not be able to stand in it either. Here is the link to the guy who makes them and if you scroll to the end I posted a bunch of photos of the ones I ordered from him. I got a bigger one also for when they get older.

I love my ecoglow. It's really nice. Wish I got the smaller one though for smaller hatches. Glad they are doing well. I've had to put a few down due to weakness...some I had helped out of the shell and probably shouldn't have. I try to wait as long as I can but sometimes it's hard to leave them in there. I had one that I thought was splayed...turned out it's fine...just has big feet....lol

On a good note...I have 10 so far. Only a few shipped eggs didn't hatch that were locked down so not too bad.
