First Hatch - Heading into Lock Down!

Oh I was also going to say. Sit on your hands and try not to open the bator until there is a lull in pips or zips. But it is perfectly normal to place your face to the glass and make chirping noises.

Thank you! I have so many that haven't pipped yet

. And yes I have been speaking to them and they look up at me - its so cute. Cant imagine what they must think!

Up to 5 but they are all wet. Everytime one hatches they are all over it and keep getting wet. They have the eggs wet too. Doesn't seem to be drying out at all.

sounds like your humidity might be a little high, but I wouldn't worry about it. My chicks generally take 1/2 a day until they are fluffy. If you are having a lull in pips and peeps, pull the chicks out and put them in a brooder or under a heat lamp.

Ok I pulled them out and they are under the lamp in brooder. I put a couple towels for them to snuggle up against. They are peeping but the temp is about 100 and sometimes they just go quiet. Keeping an eye on them. Thank you! They started hatching at 8 this morning and haven't dried one bit.

Now, I am no expert at hatching that is for sure! but I think they will be fine. Mine generally have this matted wet fur look until day 2. If they are in the incubator they never really look fluffy. Opening up the bator may bring your humidity down some too. There is something that happens sometimes, I can't remember what it is called, but the chicks get this gooey membrane sticky fur. And it is either because the humidity is too high or too low.

Now to take your mind off of everything, go chirp over your eggs and listen to see if any of them chirp back at you. (Not lifting lid though)

We continued to have some hatching today however we lost two. We are at 11. We still have some movement in a few that are left. So not sure what we will end up with.

Here are my fuzzies!!
