First hatch of the year.

Wicked cute!!!
All three eggs of mine are rocking... Eeek!!!
I hope to wake up to see more progress in the a.m.

There has been a chick trying to get out of the shell since 4:00. Waddles is sitting on it along with the other 2 eggs. The chick is steady peeping. How long should it take for the baby to get out?

Well my hatch is done. I had 6 out of 9 that went into lockdown hatch. 2 weren't developed and one died in shell. I must have had my heat up too high. Usually marans hatch late. (Today is day 21). The last maran to hatch was too big to move around and needed help. I believe the one that died in shell had the same problem. The other two didn't develop. I will post some pics when I get a small brooder set up.

The one chick that pipped had pipped on the wrong end. So far, I've just been watching it. Noticed the membrane looked a little dry so I picked it up and dabbed it with the pad of my finger and placed it back in the bator. I heard it tapping away at the membrane, but so far, its only had that one big pip.

I am trying to watch a movie or two to distract me but so far, it isn't working.

What a nightmare. We'd been out all day and when we returned, I took a nap. Once i woke up I went to check on.the bator and it nearly 80*f!

No worries, if anything, it just slowed down the time they hatch. Good luck! I'm on "lockdown" too... But this time, I have a broody doing all the work for me. I've seen people have great hatches with 90% humidity (accidentally), then had to bring it back down, which took a little while. Someone last year gave up on day 25, forgot about the egg in the bator & on day 27, it hatched! Healthy peeping little chick!!! ANYTHING is possible!

I agree, "No worries." This year a week ago I had a broody hen to hatch 6 baby chicks and then nothing from the eggs left in the nest. I took the 6 chicks and placed them indoors in a box to give the hen more time on the nest with the remaining eggs. I checked several times each day and nothing happened. On day four after the hatch, I went to take the eggs and destroy them but to my surprise I heard chirping and 2 new just hatched chicks. I think the delayed hatch was due to the eggs getting somewhat cool since the hen was in a brooder with only a light bulb for heat during our freezing weather. So, don't give up and don't worry.

Amazing!!! 4 days! wow!!!

I checked up on my malpositioned chick, she hasn't started zipping at all, so I went ahead and broke open the air cell end. Broke off more than I intended but it turns out that particular aircell is HUGE. Dabbed water on the membrane and it looked completely red. I'll check on her again in 12 hours but she is trying to fight her way out, I see her trying to turn and move against the membrane and her chirps are still quite loud, so she isn't tired out yet. She does have oxygen thanks to her pip earlier, so hopefully she'll hatch soon.

Got very small pips on a few other eggs, so we'll have to see how those turn out.
