We have had chickens for just over a year. Has been a great family project. Had broody hen so got fertilized eggs from a friend off his farm. She sat for 20 days and today we have 5 new baby chicks. Dont know what they are but kids are having fun. One of the five doesnt look so good. It has been out of the egg about 4 hours and just sits. Doesnt look as peepy as the other chicks. But i think they hatched out early today. Does it just take some time or is there possibly something wrong with it.

Probably something wrong with it. Ran out of energy hatching, has a genetic defect..... Try giving some gatorade, make sure to show it where the food and water is.

I agree, it sounds like something is wrong . . . does it look like his legs are going out to the side? I've seen chicks with sprattle leg not moving very much because they can't stand up. Whatever the case, I would suggest isolating him if the others are stepping on him too much, that'll really wear an already weak chick down faster.
