Getting the chicken bug! I made a cooler-bator and despite the touchy water heater thermostat and the wide temperature swings it caused. I had about a 90% hatch rate! I've got about 50 chicks now give or take a few. I lost the first two that hatched out and the last two. I should have a few dozen more over the next few days because I just kept adding eggs to it.

Had a Game Rooster and RIRs, Austrolorps, and Barred Rocks. Plus I've got some pure Buff Orps in the mix too. Anyway, now I've got the cooler-bator completely filled again, just not sure what I'm going to do with are the chickens yet.

Here's a pic after the second day of hatching, there's a lot more in the brooder box now....

You are like a first time broody hen!

I like your style.
You will have to advertize and sell off the babies you don t want to keep.
50 is a lot of chickens.....
I am on my second hatch and I have 52 in the bator...
Wish me luck. I could really use the success you have!
I have lots of customers for eggs and only the 7 laying hens right now....

You've got Easter Eggers, I'm trying to find a few of those. I want to get some Blue and Green layers soon. Yeah, I'll guess I'll sell some, but most likely give them away to the neighbors. We live in the country so, no worries about ordinances. Everyone has chickens around here.

How the Easter Eggers look depends alot upon the breeds they are from.....
My green egg layer is Princess:

My 7 week old Blue egg layers: Black \ Blue Ameraucana and Ameraucana\Exchequer Leghorn mixes.

There are lots of mixes so you have lots of colour choices for your little EE... Can you see the colours started in the little roo beside her above?? He has some other breeds mixed in with him too... It will be awsome when the boys come into thier adult colours...

Wish I could hook you up with EEs, but I'm in Canada and there is some kinda US\Canadian livestock laws and such....
Ask around, there is bound to be a breeder around that is experimenting with coloured egg laying breeds.

Good luck.
