So, this will be the first night my 3+wk old Cayuga ducklings will be outside. The lowest it’s supposed to be this week at night is 53°. Do they need a heat lamp? Or will pine shavings be good enough? They’re starting to get their tail feathers in and you can tell the rest of them are starting to come in just be feeling them.

Spoiled ducks! i tossed mine out at 2 weeks and it was below 50. Its pretty air tight coop and i drowned them on hay

I just made sure they whent to bed dry

lol I wouldn’t say they’re too spoiled... they get mad when they have to come in at night for bed!! I’m finally “cutting the cord” and letting them be outside

Haha they sure are funny. iam waiting on pekins to hatch at the end of rhe month. cant wait to do it all again!

Anyway i cant stress enough about how worried i was having a heatlamp in a coop. It scared me enough to let them go cold

We’re finishing this up now. Just have to put the front in & we’re going to cover some of the ventilation tonight since it’s still kind of chilly at night.
