It's my first time with chickens, so far hatching eggs has been an adventure to get to this point! Anyway.
I've put my four week old chicks outside to spend the night for the first time. It's plenty warm been summer so I'm not worried about that.
I've read that I should confine them to the area I want them to rest at night with the perches which I hope they'll learn to use in two to three weeks, until then I still want them there so they get the idea.
Anyway this area is separate to where their food and water is. Once they get the idea I'll open it up through the night so they can eat if they want but until then do I need to provide food and water for four week old chicks for the ten hours they'll be locked up. I wanted to keep food away from the area if possible. I have put water in there at the moment as I figured it was too important to risk.
So should I add a temp feeder or not is my question I guess?
Any other ideas or comments welcome.
