First Pip was Wednesday Afternoon....

I will be home in about 1 hour, so I will address it then-- he is still ok, not moving much, but there is movement from him from time to time. He's not actively trying to peck at the shell.

I was misinformed, it seems. I thought 99.5 was the steady temp. I knew the sexing thing was just a theory, but I didn't think it would hurt to try. I have my settings on Celsius, so if the temp has been at 37 from day 7 to 21, how do you think I'm effected? Obviously late hatch, as its day 25 almost.

But, would the embryos have died at such an age (today, at hatch time) due to the temp over the last few weeks?

The eggs were all viable on day 18.

The temp is 37.5 again, as i raised it this morning when the first chick hatched

Are you going by the incubator temp and humidity readings, or do you have independent thermos/hygro's also? What type of incubator are you using? And what breed are you hatching?

Hopefully the little one has made it out by the time you get home, if not I agree it would benefit from assistance by now.

Yes, to be fair, the study was done on storing eggs cooler rather than incubating them cooler, but I've seen people report doing both. Regardless, incubator temperature is a small enough range that I prefer F regardless.

It’s a “magicfly” mini incubator. I read the humidity on the incubator lid. It was constantly the same reading, unless I lifted the lid and in that case after replacing the lid It always read that It lost heat and to a little while to return to the right temperature. Never more than a few moments, though.

There was never a humidity gauge, hence our issue with the high humidity early on. We bought and calibrated a hygrometer and corrected this on day 13.

I have a video of the egg, now officially 48 hours since first external pip. Please let me know what you think!

Please view my video and photos above! I am now home, and will start assisted hatch if I have to, but I want confirmation if you can tell that I should step in.

As of now, she is at 48 hours since fist pip

Looks like it started to zip and got stuck. Just pop the cap the rest of the way off for it and it should be good to go.

Yay! Thank you so much for the good outlook!

I will try this in a moment

Is there anything I should use? We had to discard non fertile eggs on day 14, and the eggshells were very hard to break. I thought the eggshells hardened

I did this so far... I was nervous so I stopped, hoping she’d come the rest of the way out on her own.

I included a pic of the shell I picked off, because under the birth the shell didn’t look as white which made me nervous to pull at it

Should I peel the membrane back over the side that had the air cell?

Once they start to zip they are good to go. Just take the whole top off. If you see blood, stop, but thatst very, very unlikely.

Thank you SO much for all your help, I haven’t been able to get answers anywhere else!

I removed the shell and membrane that was loose.

When I started peeling the membrane that was blocking the area over her beak, I noticed parts of It are stuck to the babies feathers.

Glued to almost.

I didn’t forcefully remove too much as I wanted to be careful in case the blood vessels were still not absorbed.

Can you please see my video and advise again?

She has only 50% of the Shell still intact and has not yet freed herself on her own.
