We have two 14 week old chicks and two 7 week old chicks all - now, finally - living happily together. This morning I noticed blood in some of our younger chick's poops. I suspect cocci and I'm dosing all of the girls just to be safe. I didn't have to run out or lose my mind with worry thanks to this site. I had already read all about it and ordered the Corid about two months ago. I just want to say how truly invaluable this site is and how much I appreciate everyone's contributions and guidance. Here's to being well-informed and also a crazy chicken lady!

Glad to hear that you had the Corid on hand. Make sure the young ones are drinking enough of the water. If one acts particularly lethargic or sick, you can give a drench of the undiluted or concentrated Corid 0.1 ml per pound once or twice a day for a few days. Occasionally some strains of coccidia can be resistant to Corid, and vets may prescribe sulfadimethoxine or Albon.
