First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

They made it through last night just fine!

They were so excited to see me (or food) this morning that they poured out of the tractor door surrounding me and then one jumped into the food bowl I was carrying to fill their trough. Silly little guys!

I'm finishing my 7 remaining tomorrow, I feel kind of bad they are such docile beasts of burden.
I know, it's going to be interesting for me. When I turn around and see a row of these cute little chicks following me around the yard, it's kind of hard to imagine me putting them on the rotisserie in a few short weeks. Best of luck tomorrow!

Trust me....after you get that 1 bite in with some mashed potatoes, you'll forget feeling bad!
:D

Chicks are 3 weeks old today!! Random weighing revealed a 1 pound 9 oz chick as the biggest. My 16 week EE was visiting me and I plopped her up on the scale and got 2 1/4 pounds. These chickens grow fast. I'm amazed! And I learned that my EE would not make a good dinner. Lol!

This one cooperated with the weigh in and weekly pic.

This one took a little longer than the other two to escape. Amazing how just two weeks ago, they were barely bigger than that ball!
