Once AGAIN im firmly in Ralph's camp. The sickest ive ever got was from eating undercooked chicken. The thought of eating one after its been laying there dead in the heat we have here gives me the Willie's

Ive ate alot of squirrels and other game over the years. I gut what i kill immediately. Small game its easy to keep cool with a couple of frozen water bottles in the sack

The older i get,the more cautious ive become. I already feel like time is running out. Not gonna push my luck

I hope so!  Do you have plans to keep them cooler during your 342 degree summer days?

Ralph the ones I had last summer made it through the heat with shade and lots of fresh water.Beings I'm getting soft in the head ive already bought a big fan to hang in the coop ceiling

It is strange but I worry about my CX's in the winter cold, but the summer heat seems to actually affect them more.

What's strange is how much we worry about the quality of life of something we plan to eat

That is what it all comes down too. We give them lots of really good days, followed by one really bad day.

Lol,just moved the chicksfrom the garage brooder to the outside 4x16 holding pen.It has two heat lamps to help them dry off when they get wet. It also gives the other chickens a chance to get used to them
