First snow today; Chickens going crazy.

LOL i had some super comical reactions from the Ameraucana young, most were attempting to not touch the ground, one even flew up onto one of the pens belonging to my call ducks... they'll get a better surprise today more is expected and heavier and more tomorrow poor kids lol

Sadly, i do have a few silkie chicks.. that are turning 6wks tomorrow, thankfully mama is a good heater they are not so impressed with the snow and cold.

Yep, it was twelve degrees here yesterday. The girls were out underneath the coop. They are getting better with the snow. They hate the wind. No heat source in.my coop. The outside of my coop is insulated.

36 degrees today! The girls came flying out of the coop this morning, first time they have come out in like a week. It has been WAY below freezing here. Now they are calling for rain. What's up nature?

Now that's a fun picture! Being in north FL, we get cold temps here too (we had a freeze 2 days ago) but not all that cold white stuff you guys get. I'm so glad I don't live someplace like Buffalo, that's just brutal.

boersmamrs, you mentioned the wind. Our girls get scared out of their little minds when the wind picks up suddenly and ruffles their feathers. They all run for cover and then slowly peek out to see if the coast is clear. Too cute!

This was taken last year when temps were -45 windchill. A couple of my roosters lost parts of their combs and half a toe to frostbite.

-45 windchill?!? That's just crazy! Poor birds, hope you don't have to go through that again this year.
