I am new to chickens and just got 2 one week old chicks yesterday

I found BYC with a Google search

I have 2 kids 2 fur babies a parakeet and now 2 adorable chicks. I home school my oldest who is 13, my 9 year old goes to traditional school. I work in the dental field and help my husband run his buisness.

I found BYC yesterday when looking for ideas for our chicken coop and have hardly put my phone down since! I am researcher and this board is the chicken information jackpot I am so glad I found it!

Here are my girls in their temporary home. The one with stripes on her back my daughter named Daisy and we're in negotiations on the other's names; Wild Wing, Nuget, and Thunder Cluck are some that have been thrown around but we are open to witty suggestions.

I've not been on here long myself but I have found everyone very friendly and very helpful, they are a great bunch, so welcome from me too.

I home schooled one of my daughters by the way, I had an education inspector come to check she was getting the right education.
I shown him her school work and he was satisfied, anyway now she is a grown woman with 3 children and works in a health clinic.

Back to your new family, the chicks, they look great, but as you have found out you can ask and get all kinds of help on here, sometimes you think it is a daft question but they all get answered.

Hi there! Congrats on your new chicks! I wouldn't necessarily recommend a prefab coop, but they ARE easy & quick, and you COULD get away with using one for a year or so while you took your time planning and building a better one, then you could reuse the prefab as a brooder after you discover that you LOVE having chickens and want to get more babies. (Just sayin)
