Just bought 10 little chicks. They are less than a week old and as adorable as can be! We have a lot to learn and are very excited to be starting our backyard flock:)

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your new chicks :celebrate The learning centre is a great place to start for all the learning https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
It has many excellent articles on raising chicks and keeping your birds healthy happy and safe from predators.

Hope you enjoy BYC I am sure you will everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy those new babies as they will grow up before you know it!!

Thanks! We have some Sexlinks and Rhode Island Reds. Still learning which ones are which:) They are all doing well so far - they are already jumping on our hands when we reach in the brooder box! I hope they stay friendly!

As they mature, your Red Sex Links will develop white underfluff and some white feathers in the tail. The Rhode Island Reds will not have any white feathers.

I'm glad you joined our community.

Congratulations on your new chicks! Good luck with them.

Ok, I'm getting ready to move the chicks into a large pet carrier because we have some very curious cats! Has anyone used a pet carrier as a brooder before?
