First Time Egg Candler Scared!

I would be surprised, if it is a cat. What ever it is it will be back to have another meal. It is best to be prepared. You can get the hardware cloth from hardware store and some walmarts. Best bet.

We actually have some. I found this program on our computer that will record when it detects motion. I will put the hardware cloth around the cage and set up the "Security Camera" and watch in the morning to see if anything came back. I kind of hope it does so I can see what happened to Ted.

Very well could be a cat if it hooked a claw in the chick

They were good, growing and fluffy!

so sorry Cole I have the same crate the holes under the plastic bottom are very large like someone else said it will be back and could be any thing cat coon dog possum all will do it make sure you do the bottom also. if it's like mine when the tray slide out a chicken can fall out. good luck don't sleep tonight.

Coleson, I am so sad that you lost Ted. It's so hard to lose one, especially when you have a special bond like you did with Ted.

The cage you show is chicken proof, but it's not predator proof. I had a dog, a Golden Retriever mix, that could tear his way into or out of one of those in under a minute. Predators are persistent, that's their next meal you have in there.

It would be a pain, but can you put the cage in the garage or something at night, and move it outside during the day? Most of the persistent predators will be out at night.
