I'm so glad you asked! I was looking at the candling thread AmyLynn linked to just yesterday. It's day 5 for me today and I can't see any veins in 27 eggs and I was really worried. They are brown eggs (SLW and BLR), but I was hoping to see something by now. Maybe I won't panic until day 8 or 9. My temps were a bit low at the start of incubation, may have put them behind a day or two.Hi, this is my first time candling eggs, and I dont see any veins! What day should you start to see veins and a embryo. I see a dark spot that is floating around but it is large almost like a yolk. Is it the yolk? I got my eggs from a friend that said all the eggs should be fertile. Its day 5. What should I do!? Thanks in advance
Yes, I'd give it a week before getting too worried. The eggs in the candling link are bantams, so it's possible that things may be a day or so off for a standard and you do have to take your temps into consideration as well. The darker the egg the harder and longer it takes to tell anything.I'm so glad you asked! I was looking at the candling thread AmyLynn linked to just yesterday. Thanks Amy! And I did spend $50 on some BLR eggs for my first hatch attempt in a DIY bator.Yes, I'd give it a week before getting too worried. You really do like to give yourself a challenge don't you!!! lol Darn!! DIY, darker shells and shipped..Whew....if you have a good hatch rate, treat yourself to a steak and wine!!! lolThanks Amy! And I did spend $50 on some BLR eggs for my first hatch attempt in a DIY bator.I'm so darned impatient. I was just going to start with the local SLWs and got drooling on the BLR's and pulled the trigger. Hey they were eggs from Foley Line birds! Had them shipped on top of all that.
I guess I just wanted to keep it interesting.![]()
The only up side (if there is one) is that It's not a cooler DIY, and I have hatched over 40 leopard gecko eggs in it before. We will see. Pins and needles at this point though.![]()
In all honesty a lot of the DIY bators work better than some of these styrofoam bators...lolThe only up side (if there is one) is that It's not a cooler DIY, and I have hatched over 40 leopard gecko eggs in it before. We will see. Pins and needles at this point though.![]()
