Lets keep each other posted on this thread. I have brown and green shelled eggs. The greens look really weird when candled so I dont really know how to tell before they hatch, if they will...I'm so glad you asked! I was looking at the candling thread AmyLynn linked to just yesterday. It's day 5 for me today and I can't see any veins in 27 eggs and I was really worried. They are brown eggs (SLW and BLR), but I was hoping to see something by now. Maybe I won't panic until day 8 or 9. My temps were a bit low at the start of incubation, may have put them behind a day or two.
Usually with my green ones, all I can make out is veining right around the air cell and that's it.Lets keep each other posted on this thread. I have brown and green shelled eggs. The greens look really weird when candled so I dont really know how to tell before they hatch, if they will...

If they are green they are easter eggers. You will love them, and if they are mixed there is no telling what colors they will be. No two birds look exactly alike. I wouldn't worry too much about not seeing veins. I usually don't, though I don't have a lot of experience. In a few days you should be able to tell for sure if something is happening or not.I'm so glad you asked! I was looking at the candling thread AmyLynn linked to just yesterday.
