First Time Egg Candler Scared!

The chicks are great, they are slowly starting to eat and drink. And the white one is now fluffier and its umbilical cord fell off. Not including the egg that I am doing assisted hatch on I have 5 others. 2 look like they may hatch because they are rocking around when I play chick music.

I went out to check on my 3-week olds and the light bulb had burned out overnight sometime. Thank goodness it was only about 65 last night. They were huddled in the corner but all fine.

I have a few questions, my little silkies seem to have a hard time eating their starter crumble, is it to big for their mouths? And, when should I see if the membrane of the chick is still bleeding?

You can crush some of the crumble if it makes you feel better. Even when they don't seem to be eating a whole crumb, I believe they still peck pieces off, but I have read that some people will crush them up. When mine get near the bottom of the feeder, its all like sand where they have kinda crushed it up themselves.

I would give the one that you are assisting at least an hour between checks, as long as you can tell its still alive. How's your humidity holding up?

my humidity is at 64%, it drops low when I open it but it comes back up quick.
