Newbie here. Set mixed breed eggs in a mini advance on Sunday. This is a project for my animal loving 6 yr old daughter and myself.

I just set my first eggs! I have the same incubator thats in the picture on the first page, the still air foam one. Did not get the turner, so i'll be doing that myself. We have 19 eggs in! They are from an Americana rooster and 3 hens are white Phoenix, and the other is a black feather foot mutt. I think she is half Sumatra? They are all good layers so I am excited to meet them when they hatch! The temp is right between 99-100, and the humidity is about 48-53%. They went in about noon today! So exciting!!!

I just bought 12+ Silkie Eggs and 8+ SLWs on Ebay which should arrive tomorrow or Thursday!!! I have my incubator plugged in and heating up. I have a LG. Should I get a fan for it??? This isn't my first time hatching, but it's been a LONG time, and I've never done any costly eggs like this! NERVOUUUSSSSSSSSSS.

I've enjoyed reading all of your posts! Can't wait to see your results. Good luck!

I'm on day 15 and will be candling 18 eggs this evening. Any thoughts on whether or not as I candle them I should be moving them to a different spot in the incubator. Meaning, should I move the ones on the outside to the inside and vice versa? I'm also going to be taking the dividers out and cutting down some paper egg cartons to set the eggs in as other have described. I'm going to to line the tray with paper towel too to cut down on any messes.

I'm going to zip tie band the chicks coming out of out my green EE eggs, as I really want to keep those for myself. The others are going to a little girl who is turning 5 years old on the 15th of March. OMGosh...I need to get my brooder set up!!

Iroquois- How many chicks you have now? Any pictures?

I'd get the fan AND the turner. Anything that helps! Especially with bought eggs, right?
I'm getting ready to set 26 of my own eggs in an LG with turner and fan. I'm excited, but nervous. I know you all can relate. This is my first time!!

Good news!! I'm pretty sure that 17 out of 18 are good...BUT!!! I placed the eggs in the incubator with the pointy end down like the instructions said, SO...how come the air sac is on the bottom and not on the top? Don't the chicks need to zip from the large end?
