My last hatch came a little over 24 hours early....all where fine. I was using a still air and sometimes the higher temps will cause them to develop a little quicker. Good Luck!!

If your humidity has been too high there would have been a lot of liquid in the air sac. When chicks drown from too much humidity..this is what happens. The excess water is absorbed including the air sac so when the chick tries to poke thru to the air sac it drowns from the water there. Last time my humidity got as high as 90 due to the wet chicks. One problem I had was my temp spiked around 106 for about 20 min. while I was away from the bator. So..I had 4 eggs that never hatched...when I took a look they where fully formed and ready to hatch. Probably had heat strokes during the heat stroke. Too low humidity would have made the insides really dry...you would have noticed it. Hope this helps!
. Two chicks hatched while I was out this evening! (figures!!) and one more just hatched. I have several more with pips!! I will post pics and video tomorrow
Well, I've had 8 out of 9 hatch. The last one hasn't pipped yet, but this evening was Day 21, so I'll give it at least till Sunday night. All 8 that hatched seem to be kicking around well. I was going to post pics tonight, but I'll have to wait until the weekend. Somehow I have to get a coop built over the weekend so I can empty the brooder so I can empty the incubator.......how did I get to this point? <G>
i'm just going to go ahead and hop in on this thread.
i just hatched out my first real batch (used a borrowed incubator before and had LOTS of help).
Results:
20eggs put in on 2/18 with a HD set for 3/11
Little Giant still air incubator with an egg turner, kept the temp @99.5, with some 90 times and a couple of times where it spiked to 105 during the first two days, before i could get it regulated properly.
candled eggs @7days, 3 were clear, and the rest showed veining, and some had movement.
re-candled clear eggs @21days, they were still clear, so i went ahead and removed them.
heard some peeping on HD, had one egg pipped that evening.
had 1st chick hatch 3/12am, and had 3 more follow that day.
had 3 more hatch out on 3/13.
had 1 pipped that evening.
lost one that hatched on 3/13, was pretty mushy.
by 3/14, pipped chick died in shell.
had one more pipped that wouldn't hatch, so on 3/16 i went ahead and broke him out. he's got a hunchback (i've named him Quazimoto) and struggled to walk a lot the first two days, but is still alive and doing ok.
the others didn't make it. so, there were 9 that hatched, 1 that died after hatching, and 1 that didn't make it out. so, i ended up with slightly less than half of all the ones that showed signs of life. a couple of the other chicks showed some mushiness, so i suspect that i added too much water near the end of the hatch. i thought finding and getting a hydrometer would be really expensive, so i didn't bother. perhaps i should have, and maybe i will with my next hatch.
i also had leg problems with 3 of the chicks, and another was stargazing, but with vitamin B complex, sugar, and duramycin added to their water, my stargazer is no longer freaking out and looking up, and one of the "hop-along" chicks is totally fine. hopefully, some more drugs and taping of the legs will get similar with the other two, soon.
