First Time Hatching - incubator edition

Hi all. I bought this same incubator and am wondering if using it my basement that's 60 degrees is not going to work? Any insight?

It should be fine. My house is usually between 67-75F. You can try to insulate around it if it struggles to keep temperature.

Just candled....it's Day 10! Pretty much confirmed that all the Happy Eggs are a bust. I did leave 3 of them in because the yolks looked slightly bigger & darker than the rest but removed the rest. However, it could have just been me being hopefully....

As for the eggs from my girls, I have 4 that are FOR SURE developing. Two that are clear (#6 & #7 from the last pictures I posted). And one that is debatable (#5). I can't tell for sure if it is a quitter or not....so I left it in. Can't hurt.

So at the end of Day 10, I have 5 eggs from my batch and 3 from the store bought (Happy Eggs).

I'm going to candle one more time on Sunday (Day 14) and MAYBE right before lockdown.

Took out #19 and it was definitely not fertile

Would removing just one egg really mess with the humidity? I did have to keep the vent all the way open to keep it at 50% but after removing #19, I had to close it some to keep it there

Each egg will release moisture increasing humidity but it's just a little. You shouldn't notice a huge difference from removing one egg unless maybe there was a small crack and it was releasing more moisture than you thought.

Should I be concerned about the embryo being down that far? It’s alive and moving around, so it doesn’t seem to be bothering it right now

This one still looks ok to me but I would watch it if the blood vessels aren't looking as strong as others. When there's still movement I continued to incubate because sometimes they're deceiving.

Here’s another one

This one I would be more concerned about because I don't see any blood vessels and it looks like they may be starting to recede but when I'm unsure I do a quick sniff test, put a question mark on it and check again in a couple days.

Yeah, this was #11 and it was still moving around. So, I guess that’s some hope. The other one was #12 ( the worse one ) and I don’t think I saw it move.

What causes this to happen?
