First time hatching question!

I only have four in there.. I just looked again and it looked like only one out of the four doesn't have the large air cell and look like it has a normal air cell.
Should I higher the humidity?
Here's the pics..
Egg #2.

Egg two actually doesn't look that bad-you're about day 12 right?? Egg 3 is saddled shape, so it's much harder to judge those, but I'd say it's on the bigger side but 4,that is way large for day 12. Have you ever checked your hygrometer for accuracy? Unless you are in a real arid environment I would not expect that much air cell growth from eggs with the rates you quoted unless they were more porous/thinner shelled. I would personally run about 60% and see if that slows the growth down enough.

Today will be day 13. I put the eggs in July 4th around 2am.. Ok so I higher the humidity and its settling around 65%. So I'm :fl this will work. But I read that high humidity can drown the chicks? Is that true??

Right now i think thats perfect. Id leave it there. I dont think you will drown them. They have a good air cell. Id just keep a close eye on your air cells. Maybe check every 2-3 days. You can always drop it back down.

Drowning them occurs when your humidity has been to high as an average throughout the incubation. When the humidity has been too high the whole time your eggs don't loose the moisture and the air cells do not grow large enough. The excess moisture can drown the chicks at hatch. With your eggs, you've had excess growth and moisture loss so highering the humidity is going to slow down the process of loosing more moisture. The humidity itself does not add moisture into the egg, it prevents or allows the moisture in the egg to esscape. So, since your eggs are ahead of where they need to be, highering the humidity should NOT cause a danger to drown as the moisture has already left the egg.

Thanks so much everyone!! You guys been such a great help. I'll keep the humidity up around 65 for a few days and will keep you all up to date! :fl everything will go well.

So I candles the eggs today.. The air cell hasn't grown any bigger but it seems like there isn't much movement going on in the eggs anymore..

I'm starting to feel worry and losing hope.. Lockdown will be on Wednesday.. I guess I'll just have to wait and see

Don't lose hope yet. I have noticed with mine that it is sometimes hard to see movement when the chicks start to outgrow there shells. You still should be able to see something most of the time, but it wont be as dramatic as it was a few days ago. And unless you are absolutely positive that the egg has died, I would still put it in lock down. I have had a few surprise me when I thought they were dead and the next thing I knew they were hatching. Good luck, stay positive, and let us know what happens. That's good news about your air cells BTW... you have made progress.

Thank you both!! So today is lockdown!! I can't wait to see what happens :D:fl. I was wondering what is the ideal temp for lockdown? I'm reading that people lower it by a degree? So is 98 a good temp?

I just saw your original post for the first time. I see the problem from your first picture. When you first received the eggs, how long did you leave them upright, pointy end down? My first hatch I had 6 shipped eggs and a few looked like yours, with the whacky air cell. I hate to say it but those did not hatch. But I have talked to people that have had ones like that hatch. Are you planning on doing more shipped eggs? When you first get your package of eggs check the air cells. You'll now know what to look for. What happened is that you had "loose" air cells from shipping. When you laid them on the sides they firmed up but down the side of the egg not on the fat end. Giving them a saddle type shape down one side. Next time put each egg in a carton with a hole cut in the bottom for air circulation. (I can post a pic if you like). Let them rest outside the incubator for 12-24 hrs. Keep them upright in the carton and put them in the incubator. Do not turn them for 5 days. On day 5 candle and check air cells. They should be firm by then, meaning solid in the fat end, you won't see the air cell wiggle or slosh around when you rotate the egg under the light. Then you can lay them on their sides. IMO, I don't think your issue was so much a humidity one as it was a shipping issue. (I do run 35% days 1-18). Read this article on shipping eggs. https://mbasic.facebook.com/notes/f...beth-white-via-cheryl-shires/548615281826504/
Good luck! I hope they hatch!
