first time hatching

So after one night in the bator, it appears I have one egg that is porous, so that takes me down to 16 eggs. It sorta looked like that when I candled them prior to setting them...but I wasnt sure it it was that or just the dart/light pigment of the Marans eggs. it has some goo sorta foaming out of it at a few spots. Guess I'll have to pull it out when I candle them later. Here is a pic.....best I could get through the bator window.

I tried to candle the eggs last night....not much luck. Two of the lightest colored eggs, I could clearly see there was nothing going on....totally clear. As to the rest of them the ones I could see light through, they did look dark, and many, the light would not penatrate.

Here we are on day 20. I have three eggs that I have seen moving around quite a bit. Cant wait to see what happens with the rest...could be a little slower or no one is home.

I seem to have an issue with the temp creeping up . day 20 finished up at 3;00 and we are into day 21. Is this a normal issue ??..do the chicks actually give off enough heat to change the temp inside the bator? It has been very stable on temps up until today

it seems my temp issues were due to a bad thermometer. It has been all over the place, up and down. I put a backup in there...and things seem ok. On day19/20, I had 4 eggs very actively moving around. since then all has seemed very still and quiet. I do have one that has managed to pip through during the night ....we'll see what progress has been made when I get home tonight.
