First time incubating: how do they look so far?

Im a mommy hen right now running around lol, my husband bought me 6 Cornish rocks from TSC. I think he did it so if mine don't hatch first try ill still have little fluffs to take care of. So now all day im checking on them, I have what I call an animal room in my house, the door closes but there is a gap and the cats keep climbing over to try to get the chicks. So if I leave the room and hear them chirp I have to come running back in. One of the cats is strictly indoor so he just sits and watches them more curious then the others (which are indoor outdoor). My dog is scared of the lil peeps and he is a big boy lol.

That was sweet of hubby! When your others do hatch, you have some age variety too. What other animals do you have? One of my dogs pays very little attention to the birds. The other one is more curious about the chicks than the ducks. I think its cause the ducks got bigger and one nipped at his nose LOL. I hatched 4 ducks a month ago, along with 1 turkey. I didn't like how the ducks treated the turkey, so I bought 2 comet chicks to keep the turkey company, separated from the ducks. Now all those will be about 5 weeks old before my LO's hatch. Could get interesting when I go to intermingle them.

one dog, 3 cats, 1 savannah monitor, 4 baby snapping turtles, fish. currently 11 hens and 1 rooster. trying to increase our flock for egg/meat production.

I candled the last egg this morning and again tonight after work. Could see the shadow of the chick and it wasn't moving. Floated in water...still nothing. We did an eggtopsie and it had pipped into the air cell but never externally pipped. Not sure why..
So, for the first run I ended up with 5 out of 6. I'm still very happy with that :)

Awww I'm sorry. Sometimes its just meant to be. And that's an excellent overall result for your first. Be proud.

Im down to six in my incubator, had a quitter yesterday checked it again this morning and it was definitely a quitter same spot it was in yesterday looks like a day 8 quitter. Mother in law is collecting my next batch starting today. 9 days to go!!!! :)

Sorry to hear that newbie83, better luck with the rest! Keep us posted.

I locked mine down this morning, I'm hoping the humidity doesn't skyrocket while I'm at work today. Maybe I should have waited until I got home this evening, so I could monitor better, but they looked ready... not to mention I was anxious. 14 little beauties, only one of those has me a little worried. It was my smallest egg, and there is a bit more clear-ish fluid area than I would like see, and the air cell isn't as big as the others, but it was moving, so I still have hope.
