Congratulations Lacey! I know the feeling of seeing one moving for the first time. My little Australorp chicks are pretty much dancing in their eggs when I candle.

So you think you have a problem with the Drake?Yea I had to throw out all 5 duck eggs. Nothing after 11 days. Now tomorrow I will candle the 20 chicken eggs. I'm sure I will have to throw out at least that aren't fertile. And if I can see any blood rings. Brown eggs are a bit tough to see through.
I candled tonight and was happy with my results! My automatic turner holds 28 eggs (after cutting it down to fit) and I loaded 19 buff orpingtons and 9 lavender orpingtons...I ended up with18 good buff's and all 9 lavenders are good. My last hatch rate was about 75% and i'm hoping to do better this go round.
I just found y'alls thread just in time to join in the anticipation! Next Wednesday I plan to set about 6 mallard eggs, then a week later, fill the incubator with a friend's chicken eggs. I've read through a bunch of threads on here so hopefully those tips will help with my first attempt at incubation. Looking forward to following y'all on this adventure!
