Hey! My names Shelby! I’m from Texas and I’m hatching from an incubator for the first time. I followed directions to a t but on day 21 when I was going to start lockdown 4 of the 5 eggs were rolling around and 3 had already externally piped! Today’s day 22 one has hatched and seems ok, I’m not sure how active they are suppose to be. Two are working their way out but have only made one bigish hole and I’m scared they are too big to zip. I have one who piped from the wrong side. And my last I can hear moving but I don’t think he has piped yet. It’s really hard for me to see anything candleing other than air sacs which did seem a little small and blood vessels. What would you do !? Anyone experience this before. Are they all going to not make it because they are too early?! 😳 I wish I knew how stressful this was going To be before agreeing to this for my daughters science section of homeschooling 😅. Any and all advice, tips, experiences are welcome

First time incubator here too. Starting in the spring but based on my own research Id just let what's happening happen. Never never never open an egg and you cant prevent them from hatching even if you think its too early. @Kiki can probably help more. They are an expert on the subject

Lockdown occurs on day 18; they start pipping / hatching on day 21 . Are u saying you have ben candling them even in the last few hours also

And the large hole wont hurt. They knoe how toget out and zip it. i hatched 9 yesterday. One made huge hole last nite and hatched at 6 thid mornin

Hatching is a long process and the final stage where they unzip and pop out is actually very short in comparison to the other essential stages of hatching. It can take 24 hours, sometimes even a little more, from that first external pip until they actually hatch out. Unzipping only takes an hour at the most. The time spent inside the egg but breathing for themselves is very important. They are finishing absorbing the remains of the yolk as well as the blood that has been running through the veins of the membrane.

The one that has pipped at the wrong end can likely get out itself. Just keep an eye on it and help out only after a period of 24 hours since that first initial pip.
