Don't panic, but he may have trouble with his feet once he starts to move around after being cramped up so long. You may need to make the masking tape sandals for him. But don't rush it, give him at least 24 hours to work out his kinks and figure out how to use all those body parts in a bigger space. Do help him get a nice drink of water as soon as he seems to be staying awake to avoid dehydration.
He's not resting. He's still kicking frantically to try and get the egg shell off his navel. If he does kick it off will it bleed? And if it bleeds is there something I can do?
Yeah!! I hope you have a good strong name planned for him! He's a fighter! Congratulations!!
It probably wont bleed, he will probably drag it off. If it does, it shouldn't bleed long. You can pinch it and should be able to stop it. You can also tie it with dental floss if it appears to be necessary
Not sure where to post this, I already posted it in a different thread but it was really old so I don't think anyone read it! Can anyone tell me if this egg is infertile or if that darker red center of the yolk means it is fertile? Thanks in advance.
He's still dragging the shell around. Not up walking yet. Just floppily dragging his body and pecking at his navel where the shells attached. I had to put a bunch of small towels and face clothes around him like a nest cause he fell down in the corner of the incubator last night and couldn't get back up to under the light. We were thinking about naming him Ducky Lucky since he really was lucky to have survived after everything. But maybe he needs a stronger name, I mean he did take on a 4 ft long iguana before he was even born. Lol
Oh I don't think you can see it in the pic but it looks like he's all yellow with one small black spot on the head. I was surprised when he finally came out cause I thought I could see more black through the membrane. Lol. What a little cutie! I'm so happy that at least 1 of my eggs hatched, and glad that it was him
