Welcome to BYC! I started with chickens over the summer and the people of BYC have been great. Please visit my BYC Page for my blog links that you may find informative or amusing.
I started with pullets claimed to be at point of lay. Except for being off by a couple months, it was a great way to start.
Thanks for this! I see you are from Montgomery County, Texas! I am just down the road!
Chick_in_the_burbs, what does EE stand for? I'm so glad to have found this forum! Looking forward to getting on this evening and reading up on all the great advice you guys have already posted.
Chicken Math, some good friends of ours moved out to the country a while back and decided to get chickens. They thought they'd get 5, 12, well, 25. They ended up ordering 300!! They housed them in their barn until one spring day when the weather was so nice they thought they'd give the chickens some air. Poof! The chickens roosted in trees, neighboring houses. Our friends were up all night and got every last one of them.
"You see, I'm a traveller by nature. I did that whole barnyard thing for a while but I couldn't really get into it. The open road, that's more my style. Yep, just give me a pack on my back and point me where the wind blows. In fact, you know what they call me back home? You're gonna love this: The Lone Free Ranger." - Rocky from Chicken Run
I love Chicken Run and all the Wallace and Gromit movie
