First time with babies

I have a dilemma. We want to keep our home made brooder in the garage, but the temperature in there during the day can be high ninety's/low 100's...without the lamp on. Does that mean I need to bring the brooder in the house where I can control the temperature better?
Yes, I would say so. It sounds like it may be too hot in there. You will have to lower the temp every week. Where do you live?

Thanks Marie, we are in San Diego. We are having Santa Ana winds this week and it will be specially hot.

Either that or put a wet towel over the brooder or move the air around in the garage better .....

I have lost chicks in the summer around here when it gets very hot and had to learn how to
control the environment ....

All Good guesses! 1 Barred Plymouth rock, 1 Delaware, 1 buff Orpington and 2 golden buff red stars. The BPR is super active and vocal, and already comes to my hand the minute I place it in the brooder. This is a bit surreal, checking on them constantly making sure they are breathing. We all survived day 1! Couldn't be happier with the delivery and how fast we got our little chicks from My pet chicken.
