Went out this morning and found one of my girls sitting on the ground of the chicken coop-she usually roosts outside the coop so this is a weird place for her to be but her head is down and eyes closed and her comb is not as red as normal, it actually looks to be maybe turning blueish on the tips...where do I begin with attempting to save her??

Sorry about your hen. How old is she? Does she lay eggs? I would give her some electrolytes or Poultry NutriDrench orally, and make sure she drinks. Her dark comb could be from dehydration, or from not getting enough oxygen from a heart or breathing problem. Examine her crop to see if it is empty and flat, or full, hard or puffy. What do her poops look like? Look for any lice or mites on her skin under her vent. Has she lost any weight, or does she look swollen under her vent? If it is cold, make sure she is in a warm place. Separate her inna dog crate or basket near food and water.

She is twoish. I think ive decided its sour crop! She has liquid coming out of her beak when i massage her crop it feels like a squishyish balloon and i do hear a little gurgling....she seems to wake up when i massage the crop area....suggestions??

Be careful massaging a puffy crop—it is natural for it to come back up, and they can choke. If her crop is puffy first thing in the morning, and it she has a sour or bad odor, that is probably sour crop. If it has no odor, it might be a slow crop. Slow crop can progress to sour crop. Has she been laying eggs?

I have other chickens with her so Im not 100% sure but I believe shes been laying-I think its slow crop, not too much smell really, and there was liquid that comes up...

Also, no lice or mites..she just pooped and it was a little runny and maybe a hint of green....she appeared to perk up after liquid came up but then settled back down...

Hens with reproductive problems, or coccidiosis may have slow to empty crops. Has she been eating? I would offer some electrolytes and vitamins, and a little mushy chick feed with plain yogurt if you have some.
