Looks like I'm going to have a decent hatch after all. Here are the first two keets from today's hatch: One I'm almost positive is a Pearl Gray - or it's the darkest Buff Dundotte ever hatched. The other is definitely a Buff Dundotte, but it's still too wet to tell if it's a male or a female. My parents are: Buff Dundotte male, 3 Chocolate hens and 1 Buff hen. The Pearl Gray must be "stray" genetics at work. Thirty eggs left to hatch. I'm hoping for 25 keets.

The older keet is my Buff Dundotte female who hatched July 19th.

I'm so happy!

The Pearl Gray (?)

The Buff Dundotte - hatched about an hour ago.

The Buff Dundotte hen - about 4 weeks old. (She's suspicious of me)

I'll keep getting pictures as they hatch. (Yes, that's right Peeps, I'll keep getting pictures. You can hold your breath.) I have 4 pips at the moment, so I'm hoping to wake up to at least a few more keets in the a.m.

OMG KEET PICS!!! I'm hyperventilating!!!

LOL cute babies, congrats on your first big hatch from eggs from your own birds!

I can't tell if your dark keet is a Pearl Grey, or possibly a Brown. When the Brown keets are wet, unless you have a wet Pearl Grey keet to compare it to it can be hard to tell what you have until it's fluffed and dried. Could be either/or at this point tho (yah, I know that wasn't exactly helpful, lol).

Looks like you're going to have the market on Buff Dundotte Hens in GA

. Your 4 week old is adorable, I love her lil head stripes. Too bad they lose those, huh?

Keep the pics coming!

Yep. Buff Dundottes 'R Us. I hope the other keet is a Brown! I'll send pictures when it's fluffed and dried. Brown makes sense of course considering the parentage. When the hatch is finished, I'll get the Bucket Shot. I'm getting the hang of this new camera. Not so bad. (Be careful what you wish for LOL).
