First week as a chick mom hasn't been good....PIC p2

so glad to hear that there weren't any doas in the box and that meyer planned for colder weather so the little ones stayed warm. hopefully everything will turn out just fine. good luck, and take care

If you have any that still aren't doing well, can you offer sugar water from a dropper? Once they get re-hydrated and get their blood sugar up, they should feel better and be stronger. Then they usually start eating and drinking better on their own.

What temperature do you have them at?

I've got the brooder at 95 or so. All of them have managed to drink vitamin/electrolyte water and eat a little on their own. The ones I've lost have been bantam D'Uccles, and when I got them out of the box it looked to me like they'd been smooshed by the bigger chicks.... Everybody else seems to be frisky and fine.

I'm glad the rest are doing well. I hope your biggest problem from now on is getting anything done at home, because you're always watching those cute chicks!

Here they are! Somewhere in this pile are 2 RIR, 2 White Rock, 2 "Ameraucanas"(EEs), and 2 BR (these are all for a friend). The rest are all bantams, and all mine! There are 3 white silkies, 1 OEGB, 5 bantam "Ameraucanas" (EEs), 6 bantam BR, and 2 Mille Fleur D'uccles (I lost 4 of these).

Aren't they sweet! After losing those 4 weak little D'uccles, I'm still a little nervous that I'll find another dead one when I go down there -- especially when they're sleeping hard! But everyone seems pretty chipper. I have a pretty grayish silver EE, anyone know what color it will turn out to be?

Aww, I'm glad to hear things are shaping up better for you now! I can't tell you what your EE will look like when it grows, but check out this thread I started a little while ago when I was wondering the same thing about my EE: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=153277&p=1
A lot of people posted pictures of their EEs as chicks, teenagers, and adults, so maybe you can find one that looks like yours and get a hint about the future. Good luck with the chicks going forward!
