ok, so the babies arnt even here yet and im thinking about trying my hand at building an incubator...

ive got a couple 10 gallon tanks sitting around doing nothing, a couple of fish tank heaters too...

was wondering...

anyone made an incubator out of a fishtank? and if so how.

i was thinking along the lines of using the "egg crate" used in the comercial celing lights to make a shelf, fill the bottom of the tank deep enough to cover the submersibale heater, put egg crate "shelf" in (it wouldnt touch the water or heater it would be sat on stilts) add a thermometer...mabe a little computer fan if i can salvage one and a screen top with a couple peices of glass (to adjust airflow for adjusted humidity)

i thought about this method simply because i have all the parts (possibly including a computer fan lol) sitting around the house.

if this wouldnt work im thiking of doing an incubator out of the styrafoam cooler method...

im not looking for anything huge, hopefully just to hatch a coupld of goslings, mabe some chicks...

I've never tried it, but it might work.

I would just be worried about temp. fluctuations and not enough insulation...humidity would probably hold well, though.

Good luck!
