fish tank question

Yeah, it depends ont he type of snail, and whether or not they will eat your plants. Larger snails like Apple or "mystery" snails will eat your plants. Some of the larger species of snails will also munch on plants. However, I've foudn that a lot of the smaller snails don't typically touch the plants. I have java moss growing in my tank and there is a lot of it, but I don't think the snails really touch it. I have found their eggs laid in the moss.

Now I had alodea and my platies ate it all up. I have a few pieces left, but for some reason they like to snack on that and not the moss.
 
I just noticed a teeny snail in my aquarium too.

So is it the shell/ rock mix I got that it came in? but then that would have been dried out and sitting on a store shelf for who knows how long before I bought it?

I don't have real plants...just artificial.


It perplexed me too. It's a teeny tiny shell and it's one of the pointy swirlyish ones.
