Sounds like hes probably stressed. The salt should do him well... if you can up the air that would also help with the stress.

Also just found this thread. I have about 15 years experience personal/professional with aquariums, and have worked for a local aquarium. Feel free to poke me about any questions. Most of my experience is tropical fresh water fish, but can help with salt water as well.

We have salt in the tank.

One thing, my Pleco isn't looking to good. He is sticking part of his nose out of the water and is sitting in one area. Ideas?
It's not uncommon for Plecos to do that but if he's just now starting this behavior he might not be getting enough oxygen.

Move the Pleco or do a water change.

They can be sensitive to salt. I had one for over 3 years in my 125 gallon tank. I decided to add salt during one of the water changes and he died 2 days later.

Some pleco's can tolerate salt fairly well and I've had some that did, but it's not uncommon to hear of one that's sensitive. If your pleco started acting like this after you added the salt, then I wouldn't risk it.

He was being a little goofy before I added the salt. Should I just keep an eye and see what happens? Or move him, which might just kill him?

Another tetra died. The remaining one seem fine if u didn't see the ich. The ten pasture just won't rise any higher. It's at 80F now.

If he was already acting weird, than I'd leave him. Just keep a close eye on him.

Maybe try adding an additional air pump while you treat the tank for ich.

It's not letting me post a picture of Pleco!!!!! So frustrating.

The last tetra has died. Should I keep treating the tank? If so, when do I stop?

Also, do I take out the heater?

I just MIGHT have figured put the Pleco deal. When I did a water change last week, I filled the water up really high, just up to the water fall thing. The filter was filtering the water, not really giving it oxygen. I lowered the water level.

Was this the problem?

No matter the way you clean your tank or water levels your heater should always have the heating elements under the water otherwise you run the risk of blowing it up/electrocuting. I personally prefer a fully submersible with it mounted horizontally. I have it mounted with a bubble bar underneath it and just shy of the substrate. This allows the bubbles to aid in circulation for the heater in addition to aerating the water.

Just a little turbulence on the water top is usually enough to oxygenate the water of a tank as long as you are not over populated and are not medicating (Medicating usually lowers the O2 content of water, I usually recommend using an air-stone or something of that sort if medicating). Either way the more O2 you can get in the tank the less stressed the fish have to worry about.
