Sentinel is only for dogs, so you will still need to use something else for your cats. I know many people who liked Revolution for their cats but I think Advantage/frontline are still a little better at effectively killing fleas.
When I said you can "mix a topical" with Sentinel, I should have said just Frontline or Advantage. There have been no studies done mixing it with the topicals that do flea and heartworm (like Revolution)...plus two heartworm medications would be overkill anyways.
I also forgot to say, If you have a huge flea infesation right now, you can get one pill each of Capstar for your pets. It doesn't last all month like the other medications, but its usually cheap and does a awesome job of killing fleas immediatley. I have actually watched dead fleas fall off animals several hours after they had a Capstar. Capstar should be only used as a treatment and not a preventive (not every month). You can mix frontline/advantage with Capstar. Wait 72 hours after giving Capstar to start Sentinel.
