Flies!!!!! Do you just get used to them?

Flies in the coop.
It doesn’t seem to bother the chickens.

Does anyone use fly strips or anything?

the ceiling is about 6 feet.

I’d think the chickens would be curious and jump up to try it.

Some of them already do to get towards the climbing vines outside their space.

Any suggestions?

I use fly strips and they work great! You could also use a fly trap like this:

Of course, I don't have a horrible problem with flies in my area, and it's pretty hard to get rid of all of them, but the less, the better, as flies carry harmful diseases and can cause the dreaded flystrike. You want to remove any droppings as much as possible, and cleaning out the coop often is key. You can use all-natural fly spray, though I've never used things like that personally. And you really need to stop them from breeding, so, as I said, cleaning out the coop should help with that. Here is a link to a site that has more helpful tips and advice I find that work:

As I said, I don't have to worry too much about flies in my area, so hopefully, someone with a little more experience in getting rid of them can help.

This is just the second day in their new coop.

I’m going to try some fly strips, for now and see how that goes!

Yup! Fly strips are the way to go. Just make sure they're very secure where they're hanging because you don't want one falling into the coop/run. They're VERY sticky and I wouldn't want to have to remove one from a chicken's feathers.

Mine are up 7'-8'. They're sticky 6-sided columns about 9" long rather than those spiral ribbon thingies. I've never had a chicken reach one.

There are also bait traps but they SMELL!!!!!

Very close. Lol. 5’2”.

I hate the stinky ones. And they cost about $8 and fill up fast.
It’s super humid.

I’ll try to use them in the corners at first till I can get something different.

The most important thing you can do for fly control is move as much manure as possible away from the coop, it's hard to do, but the best practice. My family also uses Spalding Labs Fly Predators. They are tiny wasps that don't sting people or pets but eat fly larvae. These little guys are really pretty incredible! Since we've started using them we've noticed big decreases in our fly populations. Hope this helps!

Another piece of advice, don't put bait traps anywhere near your coop or house. Yes they kill flies, but to kill them they attract them, which means you'll actually see more flies surrounding the area where the traps are used. They are great and very effective when used away from you and your poultry.

I agree with @Kiki. I use permethrin spray. It works for me. I have poop pits under the roosts that I clean out now and then. I spray everything even in the poop pits.
