Flock block

I bought my first Flock Block today and it fell apart while I was unwrapping it!!! Now it's sitting in a 5 gallon bucket in the building, probably attracting mice and other undesirables

!!!! I was so annoyed I wanted to scream

!! Now I guess I will be using it in place of scratch for a while!

Take it back. I bought one & that sucker was hard as a rock. I couldn't beleive the chickens ate it.

Tried the flock block for the 1st time 3 weeks ago. They MUST love it as it's gone! Now that I know just how much they like it I can give it as an occasional treat.

we also got the girls (chickens) a flock block the smell was terrible, and they stopped eating for awhile so its gone, instead as a special treat they get yougart or apple sauce.

I noticed the feed stores and even walmart has a small block that has mealworms and grains. It is not too big for my flock of 14 too mess with there nutrition, especially if you hang it high enough to make them work for it . It is found in the part of the store that has wild bird food.

I have nearly 30 chickens and I am getting only about 4 eggs a day. I know that lack of day light affects them a lot. I am thinking that they are going through a soft molt and just not producing due to that. I have been giving warmed oatmeal, water and occasional treats since we are buried in snow. Anymore help that I can give these ladies to help them through the molt process?
