Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Ah I see, are you planning on hatching his eggs to maybe keep his daughters after he finds a home or do you feel your flock is big enough?

Ohh I forgot they were naked at hatch hehe. Didn't know that about pigeon incubating, I've only had the one hatched. Are they called squabs at hatch or is that when they are older? When they start to fly they are called fledglings I think?

I don't think I'll try incubating again unless someone asks me to. One of my Red Pyles and the black tailed white Japanese bantam are trying to go broody.

I don't think the two eggs they are sitting will be fertile but I'll candle them tonight to make sure they aren't. If they aren't I will be pulling them and start trying to break the girls. He would be the father if they are fertile.

Break the girls?

How old is your roo? Do they start to calm down after awhile?

You don't wanna re-home him and regret it.

Fingers crossed theres something in the trap tomorrow :fl

He's 5 months old. Yes, they tend to get a rush of hormones around this age and once they get over a year they usually start to calm down. I've got a while to decide on what to do.

I hope you get something to help you from the doctor!

Surely the doctor will give me something. Im soooo bad.

So the girls will have to deal with another 7 months of him being overly sexual.

I didn't know you could do that. Learning more and more every day.

I'm thinking about what to do. Maybe start a separate flock of Bantam Cochins later on. It's either that or rehoming him at the moment.

GUYS I need a reply quick! I want to restart my blue orp breeding program (I had one a few months before I joined, but sold my rooster). Do I get the Blue Orp cockerel or the Blue Splash cockerel?? I think I want the blue. (No pics yet, sadly). I have a hen that’s laying so in the coming weeks, that’ll be what I incubate!
