This photo was a week ago. Shes redder now in the comb and wattles.
One day she'll surprise you. :)

Great Update love :goodpost:
How are they doing? Your neighbors dog looks like a great protector.
Did the chicks settle into the barn nicely?
I can't wait to see what breeds you end up with. :woot im loving the name Lemon by the way. Might keep it in mind for when I have more chickens. :D

Thanks! :love

They are doing great! Today is insanely windy so i had to secure to barn door since it kept scaring them, but they are loving the wind ruffling their feathers!
The new cage is 3x the size of other bin so they are doing chick laps around it :lau
He's a Great Pyrenees mix and i love having him around as he'll let me know when something is off. My shepherd collie mix just has waaaaayyyyy too much energy to guard, she'll herd though :gig

We have a big block but up until last year we didn't have close neighbours & this lot are loud & noisy. They partied last night... *sigh* I'm the quiet sort & it stresses me.

We were loud when he first moved in. The first day we had dirt bikes and partying then I met the neighbors next door and across the road. They thought we were only renting. I said no we bought the house. They looked shocked but it could have been that the house is worth a bit and we are young too.

Thank you Krystal. Her birthday was on March 4th. Last year she stayed with me in Canada for her birthday and got a free dinner at a buffet and this year we are staying with her where she also had a freebie buffet dinner.

I've seen organic eggs sold for $5 a dozen so $2 for half certainly seems reasonable.

I got goosebumps reading this. It may have been his way of contacting you. When you get a chance you might want to read this, it talks about pets in heaven. https://www.near-death.com/experiences/with-pets.html :hugs

Thanks Ron! I don't think I've heard those lyrics but it made me want to click your link for some reason lol then I read that you work at UC Davis. I know it's a big school but it's cool to know that my friend's sister graduated from there not too long ago. I saw her for the first time in about a decade on Saturday at my friend's wedding. My sister was also going to go there but went to UC San Diego instead.

I had a good day today except the Gold Campine chick is dead :hit

We have feral cats that visit and one must've taken her. We borrowed a trap from the animal shelter so we can get them fixed but they managed to escape the trap. Will bring the trap back to the shelter tomorrow if we get a chance but my mom might have to do it another day because I'm rather busy tomorrow. I'm definitely taking a picture of the 2 chicks that are left though. They are bigger and more robust than the Campine chick so I think they stand a better chance.

She's the red chick with white spots in this pic from the seller. View attachment 1695779
I am sorry you lost the campine chick!

We have cats around here but they have never harmed any of the chickens.

UC Davis has a lot of people that work and go to school there. It is like a small City.
