Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Well, the feed store won’t take the chick back... I feel a little bad for it cuz I actually have it by itself.. it can see the others but... I put the CM back with the others cuz I didn’t want them to be separated too long.. and I feel I really want to get rid of the giant bully... sooo, I don’t know what I’m gonna do..
This may sound crazy but can the bully stunt the growth of another(SS)? I’m curious to see if she thrives better without the bully?? She seems fine... just so tiny...

You could always post the chick on a Facebook chicken page that you're wanting to rehoming it. I'm sure there might be someone who wants the cutie for their flock.

My flock's doing well at the moment, they very much enjoyed this random mid 40*F weather. (The pullet who was wheezing is completely fine now. No idea what it is was)

On the other hand, I think my bees died over the winter. -_-
I was rather keen on bees until I realised what was entailed in a harvest. Strangely DH suggested keeping them a few weeks ago & mentioned there's a skip with a tap these days so harvesting isn't such a massive job. Anyone know anything about that?

A few years back the native bees started setting up home in our timber walls. I had to discourage them but the wax & a little honey is still there.

Flock Update: Honey discovered the lowish roostbar! I was able to catch and hold a few of them. Trying to make sure i check them over as well so far no pasty butt! They are all a week old today so I introduced a grass clod for them to play with. I read adding a small clod from your yard gives them something fun and helps start building up their immune system too. My local pet store caters to reptile owners and when i pick up my Geckos crickets next week thinking about getting a couple tiny ones for the chicks. I have grit on hand to offer them with it.

ok. Thanks. I'll sort my chooks out & then look into this properly.

There's another one out there that uses jars, but that would reduce the amount of honey you get as they would have to recreate the comb every time.

I would add the grit now, never hurts to start early.

I have two bearded dragons and I get 1000 crickets every two weeks from Armstrong crickets for them. When my standard girls where chicks I dropped a few crickets in every few days as a treat and watched the chicken football game begin. It's too funny when they grab a cricket and run around screaming, like that's how you hide the fact you have a treat!
