Coop Savings!
$993 almost cracked the $1000
If I continue at this rate ill be building in 4 months.

We built our coop for 8 pulleys with $600 in Hawaii (where materials are pretty expensive).

So...i had the audacity to need too leave town for a little over a week. I paid someone too house/chicken/duck/dog sit (that's a mouth full 2 days before i was coming back i get a text from my closest neighbor (4 acres) that two of my dogs are at her porch barking frantically at her through her glass door. i called my other neighbor and got him too go to my home at which point I'm told the hose was on in the duck pond inside the run and my whole yard is flooded no one there so he opened a bag of dog food, shut off the hose and propped the door of my trailer open (4 weeks old pups inside...upset momma dog OUTSIDE)

I comehome yesterday.....

Tragedy.

1 pup inside ( ok thank good) 6 outside wandering the yard. Gate to the run unlocked. 25 or so younger chicks drowned in the flood..meat birds starved to death, 2 ducklings missing. The rest of the ducklings came waddling out of the woods around the swamp. Oh...and roughly 3 dozen uncollected eggs and two now VERY broody hens.

What. The. ?!?#!



I will not share the carnage pictures...who needs that. On a lighter note...i went to tractor supply to replace chicks (therapy chick purchases? Never) and ALL the chicks were 4 for a dollar. SO...guess who bought 52 chicks and 3 half price ducklings (basically the entire lot)?

Yup...that'd be me. They had crevacours!

That is awful! And you paid someone to take care of them and this is the state they leave them in. Thats terrible. Im so sorry. But on a positive note your puppies are beautiful.

I would be absolutely LIVID and be doing something, ANYTHING, in my power to make the "sitter's" life HELL. Please tell me you're going after them legally.

Krystal it sounds like you had fun. Remind me before your next trip and I'll tell you what you need to run a gourmet camp site, including Home made bread and peach cobbler both cooked over hot coals from your fire. Glad to see you back, it'll take you a while to catch up.

How are you feeling?

Im feeling good. Im enjoying it so far. Im only feeling sick at about 3ish in the afternoon. Jordan and I went to breakfast this morning and I had Poached eggs, avocado, Turkish bread and hollandaise sauce omg it was soooo amazing with a milkshake omg. I loved it! But I eat and then it looks like im 9 months pregnant. But both sides of the family keep reminding me there could be 2 of them. But not sure yet.

My current coop holds 8 chickens but the coop im building will be for 20 so im saving at the moment.
