The mother hen got a bit too excited and accidentally scratched one of the chicks when having a dust bath with them.
I’ve cleaned the wound and separated the chick from the others to stop them from pecking at it.
On my way now to get blu kote. :th

Luckily it’s only a small cut and she can still walk around eating and drinking.

I am planning on putting the littles out in the big red brooder in the coop friday! It's warm enough (think sauna  ) out there now, we're not having really any cold nights, but if i do i still have lamps for out there. But I was worried about putting just 2 tinies out there by themselves in that big things so I uh went and got some littles from a guy to be playmates  :gig:idunno
Made sure they are all about the same age. but I learned quickly they haven't been handled much as when I went to pick up they bit me. :barnie So they are in quarantine the rest of the week (kitty carrier with food and water) and hopefully i can play with them and get them to calm a bit, now is the time to do that right? :fl

All mixes,
L to R:
Sugar (brahma barred rock mix), Syrup (americauna mix), Burnt ( EE mix, orange penciling showing in feathers), Sorbet (mystery chick, orange and white coloring)
In the very back is Midnight (barred rock EE mix), that one is almost completely black!
That one and Sorbet are the two that show signs of being able to tame quicker.

Roosts, tree stumps, mirrors, sand pit, mulch of any sort to scavange through...you could do a rotation system so there is something different every month or so. If you put in a tree you will need to protect the roots until it's established: an old tire or pavers might do the trick.
So I do have 3 stumps, 4 dusting bins with sand that they dig in occasionally, and roosts and now I have 4 swings up. I do like the mulch idea since they would absolutely love that! Thanks so much !
